Description
Very rare Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) long-sleeved home shirt as worn in the seasons 1986-1988. Nearly impossible to find, only at Football & Vintage Amsterdam. And in a great condition as well!
In the 1980s, PSG decided to play with white shirts in their home matches. It was chairman Francis Borelli who initiated this change from the 1970s, when PSG president and fashion designer Daniel Hechter designed the home shirt as we know it today in the 2020s: a blue shirt with a red vertical stripe in the middle which is flanked by two thinner white stripes (blue-white-red-white-blue).
In these 1986-87 and 1987-88 seasons, PSG wore short-sleeved home shirts with a simple white collar. The long sleeved version sold here was used in the winter period (see last four photos of two matches in the winter period of 1986-87, against Metz and Nantes, and two in the winter period of 1987-88, against Saint-Etienne and Nice).
