Description
Beautiful match worn or issued Uruguay home shirt from number #10 Marcelo Saralegui or Enzo Francescoli in the international season of 1992-1993. It is likely that there was only one numbered shirt for multiple games/players, as was usual until the late 1990s.
In the 1993 Copa America, Uruguay became second in the group stage before losing to Colombia in the quarter finals. After the Copa America, Uruguay played 8 games in the qualification of the 1994 World Cup. Uruguay did not make it to the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States (USA).
The shirt has all the characteristics of a match shirt: correct player sized numbers on the front and back, and the size label in the neck (which was only present in match shirts and not in commercially available fanshop shirts).
In 1992, Uruguay played only friendly matches. Marcelo Saralegui played in most of these matches and most likely wore the number 10 in those matches. However, information and photos are not available online.
