Description
Rare match worn Sampdoria long-sleeved third (3rd) shirt during the 1996-1997 season by the club’s number 3 Alberico Evani. It was worn against Bologna in the fifth day of the Serie A, on 13 October 1996.
The 1996-97 season saw Sampdoria finish sixth in Serie A, securing the last UEFA Cup spot. The manager in this season was Sven-Göran Eriksson. The club’s attack went through a transition, as Vincenzo Montella was brought in to replace Enrico Chiesa, who departed for Parma. While Montella impressed, the team couldn’t secure any silverware, marking a season of change for the Blucerchiati.
Alberico Evani is a former Italian midfielder. He brought experience and technical quality to Sampdoria’s squad in 1996-97, having joined from AC Milan in 1993. He played 10 matches in this 1996-97 season. With Sampdoria, Evani won the 1994 Coppa Italia. In 1997, he moved to Serie B side Reggiana before ending his career at Carrarese in Serie C1 in 1998.
