The 1996–1997 season was an exciting and important year for Lazio, as the team played fast, attacking football in Serie A under coach Zdeněk Zeman. With stars like Pavel Nedvěd, Alessandro Nesta, Roberto Mancini, and Giuseppe Signori, Lazio offered high-energy matches and big moments for the fans. The team finished near the top of the league and showed the early signs of becoming one of Italy’s strongest clubs in the years that followed.
Igor Protti was a skilled Italian forward known for his smart movement, strong work rate, and eye for goal. Before joining Lazio, he became famous at Bari, where he finished as Serie A’s joint top scorer in 1995–1996 even though the team was relegated.
