Description
Match worn or issued S.S. Lazio away shirt by the club’s number 7 in either the season 1994-1995 or 1995-1996. Former Italian midfielders Massimiliano Esposito and Roberto Rambaudi wore this number during these two seasons (see last photos of some of the line ups).
Roberto Rambaudi was the player who (always) wore the number 7 in the season 1994-95. In the next season, 1995-96, Massimiliano Esposito joined Lazio and also played frequently with this number. Esposito only played for Lazio in this season, while Rambaudi was active for Lazio Roma in the period 1994-1998. Rambaudi played 32 matches in the Serie A in 1994-95, and 28 in the 1995-96 season. Esposito played 17 matches in the Serie A, meaning that some matches overlapped and therefore the players got subbed on/off for each other or that they played together and wore different numbers.
In the 1995-96 season, Lazio played their Serie A matches with both a name and number on the back. This was not the case in the 1994-95 season! The specific shirt sold here, without a name above the number, could have been worn/issued in UEFA Cup (today’s UEFA Europa League) matches of the 1995-96 season, when names on the back were not allowed/worn.
This shirt has all the characteristics of a match shirt: correct player size number; first team player size XL, and the fully embroidered Umbro logo (being screen printed on commercially available fanshop shirts).
It is most likely that this shirt was worn in at least one match (and most likely in the 1994-95 Serie A season). It was very common that the sportswear manufacturers only produced one shirt with long sleeves and one with short sleeves for the entire season. This changed around the year 2000. One thing for sure, the signs of wear indicate that this shirt has been used in the past.
