Match worn or issued RC Lens B home shirt in the season 1996-1997 by the club’s number 3. It’s worn by a player from Lens’ second team: Lens B. Why? Because (1) the first team wore a league patch on the right sleeve, (2) had a different font number on the back and (3) had sponsor logos on the back. Original signatures of many first team players are present on the shirt, e.g. Déhu and Warmuz.
RC Lens’ first team had a solid 1996-97 campaign in Ligue 1, finishing in 13th place under manager Roger Lemerre. The team showed flashes of promise, setting the groundwork for their historic title win the following season. Lens relied on key players such as Frédéric Déhu, Anto Drobnjak, and Guillaume Warmuz in goal. Though inconsistent in the league, Lens remained competitive and managed to secure safety comfortably, building a platform for future success.
This shirt has all the characteristics of a match shirt:
