In the summer of 2011, on 10 June, Yohan Cabaye signed a five-year contract in Newcastle. He came over from the French club Lille for an undisclosed fee. The former French midfielder played for Newcastle United until January 2014 and joined Paris Saint-Germain for the remainder of the 2013-14 season and the following season (2014-15). In the period 2015-2018 he played for Crystal Palace, then Al-Nasr (2018-19) and he finished off his career at Saint-Étienne (2019–20). He was active in the French national football team in the period 2010-2016.
Newcastle United announced a sponsorship deal with Virgin Money on January 4th, 2012, in the afternoon. In the night they played Manchester United with the new sponsor covering the old Virgin Money sponsor. They played the remainder of the season with these ‘new’ shirts. Newcastle United finished fifth in the Premier League.
This shirt has all the characteristics of a match shirt: correct player size and style name/number from felt material; correct player shirt size Medium (Cabaye is 1.74m tall), but above all the sponsor Virgin Money covering the old Northern Rock sponsor (not commercially available in fanshops).
