Description
Extremely rare match worn/issued Napoli long-sleeved third/3rd shirt by number #3 in the season 1987-1988. One of the rarest shirts to be found from this iconic Italian club. Number 3 was regularly worn by Francini.
The shirt is made of a thick cotton fabric, which was most likely only used in the winter period. The logo ‘NR’ is sewn on the right side of the chest, which are the two green letters surrounded by white on a black background. These are the initials of Nicola Raccuglia, a former football player of several Italian clubs, who started to design sportswear for Italian football teams. The club crest patch is sewn on the right sleeve. The Scudetto (representing that the team won the Serie A the previous season) and Coccarda (representing that the team won the Coppa Italia in the previous season) are sewn on the chest. The technical sponsor Buitoni is painted in white. The number 3 on the back is sewn using Ennerre’s famous zig-zag technique. It does not have any internal labels.
There are multiple versions of the 1987-88 third shirt: (1) with painted club crest; (2) with stitched/sewn club crest; (3) cuffs and collar with white/blue trim. This specific model has never been sold in stores. Unique collector’s item!
