Description
Amazing match worn or issued Inter Milan / Internazionale home shirt by Diego Simeone (number #14) in the season 1997-1998. It’s issued or used in a Serie A match because the Lega Calcio label is present on the right sleeve.
Former Argentinian football player Diego Simeone has a rich career as both a player and manager. Being born and raised in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, Simeone played in the youth academy and first team of local club Vélez Sársfield until 1990. In 1990 he moved to Europe to play for Pisa (1990–1992), Sevilla (1992–1994), Atlético Madrid (1994–1997), Inter Milan (1997–1999), Lazio (1999–2003), again Atlético Madrid (2003–2005). He ended his career back in Argentina at Racing Club (2005–2006).
Simeone has over 100 caps for the first Argentinian national football team. He played for the youth squads until 1988. In the period 1988-2002. The first years of the 1990s were the most successful for Simeone and Argentina. They won the Copa América two times, in 1991, 1993, and the CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions (formerly known as European/South American Nations Cup) in 1993.
In 2006, Simeone started his managerial career. He was manager of Argentinian club teams Racing Club, Estudiantes, River Plate and San Lorenzo before he moved to Europe again. He managed Italian team Catania in 2011 and later that year he became manager of Atlético Madrid. The rest is history, I guess, cause everyone knows Simeone as the current manager of Atlético (as of 2024).
