In the 1992-1993 season, two numbers where used: a thin felt one and a thicker cloth one like the one sold here. In the 1993-1994 season, three different numbers were used: a thin felt one, a thicker cloth one and a thin felt one with the Umbro logo at the bottom of every number. Multiple number styles were used in both the Italian competition but also the UEFA Cup (which Inter won in the 1993-94 season).
Salvatore Schillaci is a former Italian striker, famous for leading Italy’s attack at the 1990 World Cup, where he won both the Golden Boot and Golden Ball as the tournament’s top scorer and best player. He played for clubs like Messina, Juventus, Inter Milan, and later moved to Japan. Unfortunately, Schillaci passed away in September 2024 at the age of 59.
Davide Fontolan is a retired Italian winger and attacking midfielder, best known for his time with Genoa and Inter Milan in the late 1980s and early 1990s. A skillful and versatile wide player, Fontolan contributed to Genoa’s strong campaigns, including their UEFA Cup run. With Inter (1990-1996), Fontolan won the 1990-91 and 1993-94 UEFA Cup.
This shirt has all the characteristics of a match shirt: the professionally stitched number in cloth material on the back; first team player size XL, and the fully embroidered Umbro logo on the chest which on the official replica shirts was screen printed. Furthermore, the Umbro lettering is capitalized which is also not the case on the shirts that were commercially available shirts.

Schilacci wore the number 9 shirt in the first eight matches of the 1992-93 season and from the 21nd Serie A match until the 34th Serie A match. In between the 9th and 20th match, the number 9 was worn by Fontolan and Pancev.
1993-94
In this season, the number 9 shirt was worn throughout the season by Fontolan. Schillaci also wore the shirt some Serie A matches. Ruben Sosa wore the shirt a couple of times, Dell’Anno two times and also Shalimov two times (against Torino and Milan away). In the last two season matches of the Serie A, against Roma at home and Atalanta away, the shirt was worn by Berti.
In the 1993-94 Coppa UEFA (UEFA Cup), the number 9 was worn in chronological order by: Schilacci, Sosa, Dell’anno, Fontolan, Fontolan, Fontolan, Fontolan, Fontolan, Fontolan, Fontolan, Berti and Berti.
