Match worn/issued FC Bayern München long-sleeved home shirt by a number 2 in either or both of the seasons 1993-1994 and 1994-1995. In these seasons Jorginho and Babbel were the ones who played with number 2. Match shirts from these seasons are very hard to find, only at Football & Vintage Amsterdam.
Former Brazilian football player Jorginho was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro. The right-back played in Germany for six years, first for Bayer Leverkusen in the period 1989-1992 and then for Bayern München between 1992 and 1995. He was part of the Brazilian national football team that won the 1996 World Cup. He played every match in the tournament. The Brazilian was a classic right-back, known for using the entire right side of the pitch and providing the forwards with crosses. Jorginho is still active in Brazil as a manager.
Former right-back Markus Babbel joined the team from Munich in 1994, and competed with Jorginho for the number 2. The German, being born and raised in Munich, had 35 appearances for Bayern in this season. Jorginho only totaled 15 matches. Babbel also played for the German national football team in the period 1995-2000.
The shirt sold here was most likely worn in either of the seasons 1993-1994 or 1994-1995 by Jorginho or Babbel. Further, it is most likely that this shirt was worn in at least one match. It was very common that the sportswear manufacturers only produced one shirt with long sleeves and one with short sleeves for the entire season. This changed around the year 2000. Long sleeved shirts were, obviously, used in the winter period.
This shirt has the following characteristics of a match shirt:
