Description
Match worn or issued AS Roma third shirt during the 2001-2002 season by the club’s number #9 Vincenzo Montella. It is most likely worn in a Serie A match. In any case, the shirt was signed by the player and given to a person close to the club.
Vicenzo Montella is a former Italian striker who had his most successful time at AS Roma. Montella joined Empoli in 1986 to play four years in their youth academy. He made his senior debut, in the first team, in 1990 and played for the club until 1995. He then played one season for Genoa (1995-1996) and made his Serie A debut at their rivals Sampdoria on 28 August 1996. In 1999 Montella joined AS Roma where he played until 2009. In the last years he was loaned out to Fulham and Sampdoria.
In the 2001-02 season, Roma won the Supercoppa Italiana and finished one point behind Juventus in the Serie A. This season Montella became league top scorer (13) and overall top scorer (15) for the club.
