Totti played for the Italian national football squad in the period 1998–2006. He won the 2006 FIFA World Cup and became second at the 2000 UEFA European Football Championship (Euro 2000). In the 2001-02 season, Roma won the Supercoppa Italiana and finished one point behind Juventus in the Serie A.
