Match worn or issued Argentina long-sleeved home shirt in 1979 by the player with number 11. Óscar Ortiz, Jose Valencia and Miguel Bordón wore the number this year (see matches below). The shirt is signed by Argentinian legends Mario Kempes and goalkeeper Ubaldo Fillol a decade ago.
The shirt comes from an Argentinian collector. He bought several items from Argentinian player Houseman. A written letter confirms this. This shirt was not sold commercially. The Adidas logo is fully embroidered and the AFA logo is painted. The number can be seen from the inside of the shirt.
The year 1979 was interesting for the Argentina national football team, following their victory at the 1978 FIFA World Cup. Under coach César Luis Menotti, Argentina continued to build around experienced players such as Mario Kempes, Osvaldo Ardiles and Daniel Passarella. During this period, a young Diego Maradona also became an increasingly important part of the national team as Argentina prepared for the next major international tournaments. The Copa America in this year ended in the group stage due to poor results against their group companions Bolivia and Brazil.
