Match worn/issued AC Milan L/S away shirt 1982-1983 by #8 (Battistini?)

1,499.99

Extremely rare long-sleeved match worn or issued AC Milan 1982-1983 away shirt by/for a number #8. This shirt was never commercially available and a match version is nowhere to be found online! What an absolute beauty and what a collector’s item!

This shirt is issued for/worn by the player(s) that were present in the midfield position. The chance that this shirt was worn is very high because in that time only one shirt was made for the entire season (one short sleeved and one long sleeved shirt per home/away shirt). Sergio Battistini wore the number #8 in multiple matches. For example, he scored in this specific shirt in the away matches against AC Arezzo on 20 February 1983 (see photo of his header) and against Reggiana on 22 May 1983 (see last photo).

AC Milan got relegated from Serie A in the 1981-82 season. In this 1982-83 season, Milan ended the season on top of the Serie B and thereby got promoted back to the Serie A (where they belong).

The shirt is made of a thin cotton fabric. The logo ‘NR’ is sewn on the right side of the chest, which are the two green letters surrounded by white on a black background. These are the initials of Nicola Raccuglia, a former football player of several Italian clubs, who started to design sportswear for Italian football teams. The club crest was not present in the early 1980s but instead a star is sewn on the left side of the chest. The technical sponsor Hitachi is painted in black. The number 8 on the back is sewn using Ennerre’s famous zig-zag technique.

Years: 1982-1983
Size: Taglia 50 (slim fit)
Condition: Good, some damage to armpits and a tiny hole next to the star

Brand: Ennerre
Sponsor: Hitachi
