Description
Epic match worn Ajax home shirt by number #7 John van ‘t Schip in the seasons 1989-1991.
The former Dutch international played for Ajax in the period 1981-1992 and ended his career in Genoa where he played between 1992 and 1996. After his active football career, he was a youth and assistant coach at Ajax and head coach at FC Twente. Johnny van ‘t Schip was appointed assistant coach of the Dutch national team on 2 August 2004. His contract ran until the 2008 UEFA European Football Championship (UEFA Euro 2008) in Austria and Switzerland.
This shirt is 100% worn either or both of the 1989-1990 and 1990-1991 seasons. This shirt was never commercially available with (1) the Umbro logo being stitched on the shirt and (2) the number on the back that contains the Umbro logo on the bottom. As can be seen by the photos: the number on the back used to be white in felt, but the top layer has worn off. Either way, a true collector’s gem that is really hard to find (especially in short sleeves)!
