Match issued Olympique Marseille 2007-2008 long-sleeved third shirt for number #10 Boudewijn Zenden. This shirt was made for a European Cup match (UEFA Champions League or Europa League). This third shirt was also worn during the Coupe de France, but with SFR as the shirt sponsor. During the pre-season, this shirt was was also used, but with an additional sponsor and LFP patch on the right sleeve.
Boudewijn Zenden started his youth career in the province of Limburg, at amateur club Leonidas and later MVV. After being signed by PSV, he made his senior debut at the club from Eindhoven a couple of years later, in 1993. After five years he made the move to FC Barcelona, where he played in the period 1998-2001. After spending six years in England, at Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Liverpool, he went to Marseille to play for OM. The former Dutch midfielder played for Marseille in the period 2007-2009. He finished off his career at Sunderland in 2011. Zenden was part of the Dutch national football team between 1997 and 2004.
In the 2007-08 season, Olympique Marseille finished third in the Ligue 1 and stranded in the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue. In the Champions League group OM finished third and secured a place in the knockout stage of the UEFA Cup. They finished behind Porto and Liverpool and above Beşiktaş. In the Round of 32, OM beat Spartak Moscow (3-2 on aggregate) but went out in the Round of 16 against Zenit Saint Petersburg (3-3 on away goal ruling).
This shirt has all the characteristics of a match shirt: correct player size and style number and name in plastic, but the following features are different from the commercially available fanshop shirts:
- Adidas “FORMOTION” material model instead of “CLIMACOOL”
- Adidas official Hologram is missing in the bottom right of the front
- Long sleeves
