Description
Match issued Netherlands/Holland long-sleeved home shirt for number #14 John van ‘t Schip in the international campaign of 1991-1992. With an original signature of the player.
The shirt was likely issued for the 1994 World Cup qualification game against Turkey (see game 13 below), because that is one of the only two games in where The Netherlands played in their home shirt with long sleeves. In 1991 and 1992, The Netherlands always started their friendly and qualification matches with the numbers 1-11, so the player with number 14 started on the bench. During the 1992 UEFA European Football Championship, the players wore a small number on the front as well. Therefore, it is definitely not from this tournament.
It has all the features of a match issued shirt: long sleeves, painted and shaded number on the back, Lotto size XL, stitched Lotto and KNVB (Dutch lion) logo. These shirts with stitched logos were not commercially available!
