In the 1980s, Barcelona was building toward greatness. Between 1981 and 1989 the club won important trophies: they lifted the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1981–82, and claimed the La Liga title in 1984–85 — one of the few league wins in that period. The club changed visually too: the famous blaugrana striped home shirt with the then‑new kit maker Meyba became the symbol of the era. This period also saw big names wearing the shirt — legends like Diego Maradona, Gary Lineker and Steven Archibald added flair and international appeal to the club.
