According to the club, the design is inspired by the “diamonds” of the past, present, and future—a nod to Ajax’s rich history of developing top talent. The slogan “Diamonds are forever” captures this legacy, and the shirt was unveiled in a special video featuring Jari Litmanen as a diamond trader, with a cameo from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
