Ajax played the 2014–2015 season under head coach Frank de Boer and finished 2nd in the Eredivisie, behind PSV Eindhoven. The club stayed in the title race for much of the season but could not secure a fifth straight league title. In Europe, Ajax competed in the UEFA Champions League group stage, finished third, and moved into the Europa League, where they were eliminated in the round of 32 by Dnipro. In domestic cup competition, Ajax did not reach the KNVB Cup final. The season marked the end of Ajax’s long run of league dominance in the early 2010s.
